i-bidder regularly hold fantastic sales of classic cars & motorcycles and Industrialist’s current favourite lot of the moment is this 1959 Messerschmitt (lot 116), available at Historics at Brooklands live online car auction held on June 6th from 11am.

Classic Messerchmitt

During most classic car events, despite there being thousands of pounds worth of vehicles, Messerschmitt cars are often the most photographed because they are gorgeous, nifty novelty cars that are often considered the original smart car.

Vintage Messershmitt in Paris

Messerschmitt was a German manufacturer of aircraft that survived the post-war era but they were not allowed to produce aircraft, leading them to design the three wheeled bubble cars (also referred to as cabin scooters.)

The tandem seating style evokes the feeling of fighter plane which perfectly matches the brilliantly fun noise of the engine when setting off in one. These unique vehicles have a great following (there is a Messerschmitt owners club who hold a yearly rally). This KR200 has evidently been cherished as the cream paintwork remains unmarked, it is in excellent overall condition and is a bargain with a £10,000-£14,000 estimate.
